My first interest in geography was through the fascinating world of maps.

I bought my first OS map of the Cardiff area when in the Scouts! However I nearly missed out on geography altogether by studying Latin instead of Geography at O level. But I made up for things by studying A level and taking a joint first degree in American Studies and Geography as well as an MA. I am keen on urban geography especially West Coast USA and Cardiff Docklands. I have been involved with the local branch of the Geographical Association for many years. I have also served 6 years on the Council of the Geographical Association as Branch Officer and 9 years as a committee member of the Worldwise Quiz. I am keen on the application of computers to geography teaching , having been involved with the development of a number of SECOS datasets for investigating geographical information.

Have been accused of getting excited about decay and dereliction , especially on field trips. I have also seen many changes in geography and hopefully I am still keeping up with what I consider to be a great subject.
