To ensure that pupils are aware of what Art Galleries are and do, it is important to arrange suitable visits from time to time. This can spark interest and inform practical work, and enhance the delivery of critical studies. Most Art Galleries now employ an Education Officer (E.O.). In larger galleries there may be more than one. They are usually capable of talking about permanent and temporary exhibitions of work to groups of pupils, as well as arranging practical workshops in some instances. It is advisable to contact the E.O. before making a visit, not only to check on his/her availability, but to ascertain what is currently on display. Some galleries have pupil-focused work sheets for use on site. ResourcesAre you looking for a particular book on an artist?
