Madeley Maps Creativity 

Gill Butterfield of Madeley High School, Newcastle-under-Lyme, has a challenging maps activity to explore pupils perceptions and ideas about the purpose of geography and the environmental issues. They look at how the world is represented and how different types on information are displayed on maps.  They are given a free hand to do what they like.  The outcomes here are wonderful and they are not all from the brightest pupils.

This is given to Year 7 pupils at the start of Key Stage 3 and forms a key benchmark in establishing prior learning and awareness. These may be the cartoonist of the future. Celebrate the creativity.
