The 7-11 GIS and geo databases on-line

1. Homecheck www.homecheck.co.uk is one of four sites that allow you to compare postcode areas for quality of life and environment statistics.
2. What's in your backyard?  http://216.31.193.171/asp/1_map.asp? is complex but allows you to view flood plain sites.

There are other layers too. River quality for example.

3. Upmystreet www.upmystreet.com  is another with some more features
4. Envirosearch  www.envirosearch.info is good on environmental information

5. UK National Statistics www.statistics.gov.uk  This includes the Census and the particularly rich Neighbourhood Statistics site.
6. The Census of India www.censusindia.net has an on-line interactive thematic mapping programme.

You will need to understand data intervals to make sense of it. 

7. The UN CyberSchoolsBus - www.un.org/Pubs/CyberSchoolBus/index.asp  is a places for national information and is good for comparing countries.
8. GIS for teachers www.king.ac.uk/geog/gis_for_teachers/second.htm is an FE college that has vast experience of using GIS.
9.AEGIS 3 www.advisory-unit.org.uk/home.html is a GIS you can buy for school use and an e learning credit.
10. GIS Day is more than event - it has lots of ideas and stories about how GIS is used in the world  www.gisday.com It has links to the two big GIS software providers ESRI www.esri.com who make Arc View and MapInfo www.mapinfo.com whose GIS is the same name.
11. www.globalrichlist.com  is in $ or if you want to do it in £ then C4 have one too www.channel4.com/4money/funnymoney/richometer/index.html
