3. TIDE~ [formerly the DEC in Birmingham] www.tidec.org has brilliant publications and is linking to good sites for development issues

4. The International Development Research Centre: Images:

The IDRC Photo Library - is the Canadian Development Agency is brilliant for photos of development issues and development projects. Search by place and theme. Favela was very rich as was Brazil. India too and street children.

4. DEP Manchester www.dep.org.uk has a sustainable cities project as well as a publication called Global Express which provides lessons in response to recent events.

Who do you think runs the world? The UN Development Programme (UNDP) notes in its 1999 Human Development Report that many global corporations now yield more economic power than nation-states. Today 50 of the largest 100 economies in the world are run by multinationals, not by countries. Mitsubishi is bigger than Saudi Arabia, and General Motors is larger than either Greece, Norway or South Africa. The combined annual revenues of the biggest 200 corporations are than those of 182 nation-state that contain 80% of the world's population.
