BAS Home page 1.The British Antarctic Survey www.antarctica.ac.uk has some great resources for schools - their about Antarctica section is very rich, and there is also a section specifically for schools.
2. Why not find a Greenland Webcam www.jensjk.dk/indexe.htm to see what it is like in winter and summer.

Predict before you look and look at different times of day. This is a really good site to see what an arctic environment is like.

jade icebergs3.Classroom Antarctica is wonderfully well structured and with a selection of images second to none  http://classroomantarctica.aad.gov.au/
4.The Ice www.theice.org  - has collection of writings put together by someone who travels to Antarctica regularly.  There is nothing quite like personal accounts.
5.North Pole 2001 www.bbc.co.uk/northpole2001/index.shtml is a site from a local BBC radio station that includes lots of accounts of an expedition and encounters.
6. Canada's Arctic www.arctic.uoguelph.ca/ is recommended by Mark Collins of Ottawa. I love the bleek sound effects. There are excellent videos of the environment, including Blizzards, Glaciers as well as wildlife.  There are ground and satellite images as well as a whole section on traditional knowledge.
7.Living in an arctic city like Iqaluit is a very different experience.  Find out about life on this Canadian, Baffin Island city where Inuit are the largest ethnic group.

www.city.iqaluit.nu.ca

8.Warnings from the wild www.bbc.co.uk/nature/programmes/tv/warnings is a TV series from the BBC that illustrates change in Tundra Arctic and Antarctic environments.

9. visit and learnHMS Endurance is the Royal Navy's Ice Patrol Vessel that deploys each year to support the work of BAS (British Antarctic Survey).
