A trio of boys dive into the Rio Negro from fishing boats docked at the Brazilian Amazon port city of Manaus in May, 1998. The Rio Negro, an Amazon tributary over four times the size of the Mississippi, joins the great river at the city a thousand miles upstream from the Atlantic Ocean.
