Global Warming – Fact or Fantasy?

Think about this cartoon.

What is it saying?

Who might have published it?

The Big Enquiry Question:
Global Warming, is the truth out there?

We all hear about Global Warming.  The media bombard us with the doom and gloom scenarios that we are going to be living in a vastly different climate if we continue along our present lines of development. On the other hand environmentalists say that politicians red tape delays action.

 Purpose of the enquiry

The purpose of this web enquiry is for you to assess how real the threat from global warming is, using a variety of evidence taken from a variety of different sources.

Your Task: An assignment for the local newspaper explaining the different views on Global Warming.  It must explain the suggested causes of global warming (the science), how the causes of Global Warming have aroused much controversy and why there is no consensus of agreement on this vital issue.

You will need to include:

  • a clear definition of what is meant by the term ‘Global Warming’,
  • general background information on the causes
  • the different viewpoints on the possible effects
  • as well as a discussion on one or more organisations views on what should be done to prevent the situation from becoming worse.
