The purpose of this piece of work is to use the Internet effectively in order to find out key information about the rate of clearance, the causes, and the consequences of deforestation. 

Your task is to use the answers to produce a small report about deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest.

1. Load up the website: http://www.eduweb.com/rainforest/worldmap.html Click on the correct part of the world map that shows the Amazon Rainforest. Where did the Amazon get its name?

2. What do they say is the annual rate of deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest? How might they know? What kinds of rainforest are they referring to?
