Purpose: Pressure for development in all parts of the world is huge. Antarctica is one of the few areas of the world that has been left relatively untouched, but not without difficulty. The aims of this project are as follows.

a. To learn the facts about Antarctica - location, size, the harsh reality of its climate, the diversity of it's nature, and it's resources.

b. To learn about the work that goes on in Antarctica at the moment, why and by which countries.

c. To begin to understand the pressures and problems of development and the complexities of sustainability.
