Griffin Geography Passport
Diane Truman and Steve Thomas of Cardinal Griffin RC High School,
Cannock, have devised one way of helping new entrants to the school focus
on their personal geographies and building on these as they start their
secondary geography education. The Griffin Geography Passport is given to
Year 7 pupils at the start of Key Stage 3 and forms a record of places
they encounter.
This technique could be adapted for Key stage 2 use too and complements
the s
uggested teaching activities in the QCA Schemes of Work (Passport to
the World is Unit 24 in both the KS1&2 and KS3 SoW.)

You can download the Griffin Passport as a Microsoft Word file to adapt
for use in your school. It is suggested that a map of the UK is added to
the frame after Places I have visited in my country and a world map is
added to the frame Places and other countries.
