SEA

Waves - a Poem

You spill as you roll regularly
gently up the slope
with your long wavelength
but low crest
your swash greatly exceeds
that of your backwash
You plunge as you climb rapidly
steeply up the slope
with your short wavelength
but high crest
your backwash greatly exceeds
that of your swash
You converge on headlands
but diverge in bays
you zigzag your way
in long shore drift
as you sort out sands and shingles
along the bay
In a constructive mood
you build up ridges in bars and dunes
along a regular coast
but as you pass a curve
you spit out and enclose a lagoon
or reach out to other islands with a tom bolo
You can be destructive
as you undercut a cliff
breaking with your sheer weight
hurling and dissolving stones
till it collapses on its sides
sprawling as a benched platform
You let it succumb to notches
before carving out caves and goes
and gushing out blow-holes
Alas the gaps meet to
arch its way before abandoning a stack
and finally remains a solitary stump

The Sea

When I swim,

I swim in the sea,

I love the sea,

The sea loves me.

I swim along,

With all the fishes,

Making lots of,

Swish, swish swishes.

From here to there,

It's a lovely blue,

I ask you now,

Does the sea love you?

When I swim,

I swim in the sea,

I love the sea,

The sea loves me.

Silent assassin………

White so pure it hurts the eyes

Towering high into the skies

Silent assassin of vessels

Quietly in the deep sea nestles

Guardian of unpredictable seas

That makes the sailors’ blood all freeze

Seems so peaceful, seems so quiet

The ICEBERG waits, with a wreck beside it.

Up

Down

Sea (Gentle and Forceful)

The sea

The blue skies above

Reflecting in the crystal waters

The waves gently lapping the shores

Fish swimming around under it all

The Sea
The waves crashing against the rocks

Fish avoiding the surface

Grey skies and dark clouds

The Almighty Power of the Sea.

The Sea

Calm and cool

The crystal clear oceans

The sea is still

The storm is over

The sea

The sea always flows,

The sea always flows,

Green and blue,

Turquoise too,

The sea always flows.

Rivers and streams,

Sail like dreams,

The sea always flows.

Giant waves that flip,

Make huge ships tip.

The sea always flows.

Green and blue,

Turquoise too,

The sea always flows.

The Ocean

The pearl blue waves lap against the sandy shore,

The anemones sway like an ocean party,

beckoning the fish with their flapping tentacles.

The shoals of fish flutter past,

a sea of blues greens and purples.

The whales bask,

the dolphins play,

the octopuses grab,

in the shining deep blue sea.

Far away in the Arctic Ocean,

penguins topple into the freezing water,

like rows of dominoes.

The icebergs tower like mountains,

over the deep blue sea.

Oceans

Atlantic, Pacific and Indian are all oceans,

Water that is driven by many motions.

Tides that always ebb and Flow,

Powerful currents rough and slow.

Water rises as icebergs melt,

From the heat of the hole in the ozone’s belt

Oil spills cause a lot of pollution,

Hopefully we shall find a solution.

To keep our oceans always clean,

To save the wildlife we’ve rarely seen.
