Rain
Water
Water
can mean the gift of life,
But throughout the world it can cause much strife.
But from where do we get this precious gift?
The clouds above can make rivers so swift.
The heat on Earth makes vapour rise,
Catching the clouds by surprise.
Soon the clouds grow big and fat,
The rain then falls to the land so flat.
The water runs down mountains as it goes,
Making basins and tributaries as it flows.
The water turns land from brown to green,
Crops will soon grow tall and keen.
But what happens when water does not come?
Famine and poverty are clearly no fun.
Water is certainly not always good,
Banks may burst and the Earth, it will flood.
Dams are built to preserve supplies,
Covering areas where once there were lives.
For good and bad we need the rain,
Bringing
so much pleasure and little pain.

MONSOON
Quick! Quick!
Find a shelter.
The monsoon rain is here.
Get a boat,
It’s raining, raining,
The monsoon rain is here.
Find an umbrella,
Play out side,
The monsoon rain is here.
It’s flooding now,
Worry, worry,
The monsoon rain is here.
Can’t walk in water,
Crops face ruin.
The monsoon rain is here.
Umbrella man come
Quick, quick, quick,
The monsoon rain is here.
The rain is finally here.

Monsoon!
Monsoon! Monsoon!
Please come quick
To water the plants
That look like sticks
We need the rain
We need the rain
To trickle down
Our dried up drains
We start to feel
The winds that blow
A huge relief
On our faces show
The rain is here!
Hip, hip, hooray!
So start to plough
The fields today.
Sow the seed
Reap the crop
Quick, quick, quick
Do not stop.
The monsoon is here!
The monsoon is here!
It only comes
Once a year

MONSOON
Dark clouds gather over stormy seas.
Blown inland on stiffening breeze.
Climbing high over mountain range,
Meet cold winds, condense and change.
Higher, cooler, droplets born,
Small ones join and larger form.
Black clouds heavy descend on plain,
Cooler now, it begins to rain.
In heavy skies thunder booms.
Rivers are swelling, it’s the monsoon!

POEM
The
salty breeze blows on my face,
The rains have arrived at last.
A drop of water falls on my head,
I dance and splash and shout.
Suddenly I stop and wonder,
What might happen?
Too much water, flash floods, devastation.
We all might die!
Too little water, starvation, devastation.
Unpredictable, so unpredictable,
Why? Why? Why?

MONSOON
Rain, rain, please come soon,
Please come to my home,
The scorching sun,
It is no fun.
The ground is cracked and dry,
I wish I could fly,
To where it is wet,
Away from the sweat.
Monsoon, Monsoon,
Please come soon.
There, what do I see?
Are my eyes deceiving me?
I see dark clouds,
I shout out loud,
Hooray!!
Blocked out are the sun’s rays,
The rain breaks through,
This can’t be true.
The rain has come.
I’m running home,
The rain on my face
This is ACE!

Humid
rain.
Humid rain
Water falling down the drain.
Farmers now are planting crops,
Scarecrows put on wooden props.
Lots of rain.
The more the worse,
The good thing is, it quenched our thirst.
Now we can eat
Good, nutritious, tasty wheat.
Humid rain.
Humid rain.
Come again!

POEM
Monsoon
come soon
Monsoon come soon
It’s really boring here.
There’s nothing to do.
We can’t eat or sleep,
The thought of food is on our minds.
All that is left is dry, crusty land
And hot, droughted sand
Every day we wait in pain
For the refreshing monsoon rain
Monsoon come soon.
Monsoon come soon.
