Role of the geography co-ordinator in a Primary School

Overall

To develop and maintain the quality of geography teaching throughout the school

In detail

  • Promote Geography good practice throughout the school - support and extend good practice among your colleagues in their classes.
  • To prepare the school’s Geography Curriculum Policy document.
  • Set a good example of classroom practice.
  • Be involved in long-term planning for the whole school.
  • Work with staff to co-ordinate the preparation and assimilation of medium term planning (schemes of work) throughout the school.
  • Provide guidance to all members of staff.
  • Maintain an up to date stock of resources. and equipment and make available to staff
  • Monitor and evaluate Geography in school - know what is going on!
  • Provide In-service and professional development liaison.
  • Be involved in liaison with High school and other Primary schools in the area
