The Year 8 Course |
Module 1 - Weathering, Rivers & Coasts
|
Our first module in Yr 8 returns to some of the work covered in Yr 7. It concerns Weathering and Erosion before looking at how rivers shape the land. This is where the Niagara Falls project will be undertaken and you will be challenged to complete a tourist brochure for the Niagara Falls tourist office. We complete this section by looking at how the sea shapes the coast and what is happening on the Holderness Coast where up to 20 metres of coast is eroded each year. |

Module 3 - Secondary Activities
Module 4 - Environmental Concerns
![]() |
This module develops out of the last segment of Secondary Activities. It asks the questions - Why are we concerned about the environment? and Who cares for the environment? We look at the situation with wild animals in Africa and whether the Antarctic needs protecting. We then look at Man's use of the world's resources and and how this can harm the environment. |
|
Here we will look at how the World's population is distributed and the reasons why some areas are more densely populated than others. We look at why the population of the world changes and the rate of population increase is compared in rich and poor countries. We then look at migration and study the reasons why people migrate from villages to cities and between countries. |
