Who killed Chico Mendez?The mystery is based on the murder of Chico Mendez. The aim is to get the students to understand in detail the causes and effects of deforestation whilst trying to discover who killed Chico Mendez. At the end of the mystery students write an extended piece of writing based on the causes and effects of deforestation. I have used this with a year 8 class. Please note that I have made up all the suspects apart from the genuine person who killed Chico Mendez. Most of the information has been pieced together from information I have come across in web sites such as his life story. The mystery contains the following resources that can be downloaded for use in your school 1. Police evidence board. This is the information the police have managed to piece together about Chico's life and murder.
