Edgecliff High School - World of Sport - Decision making and route planningThis module of work is the first in year 8 and has been adapted from the QCA examples. What follows is the section of work called Where is the stadium located? and an assessment on how to get to a football match. Where is the stadium located? We discussed the ideas of location and the location requirements of a football stadium today. The location of the Molineux in Wolverhampton was analysed through O.S. map and aerial photographs. A sketch map of the location was developed and an analysis of its benefits and disadvantages.
A role play followed and debate on the advantages and disadvantages of the move led to a homework exercise. (worldsport pupils work.doc 44k) Assessment Exercise: Pupils are asked to undertake this exercise as a homework task. They were given over a week to research the topic and to access the internet. The exercise (worldsport assessment.doc 27k) and here are some samples of pupil responses. Pupil 1 has produced a good report combining maps with instructions. Student 2 with a road atlas and with ICT and the interesting thing about this is comparing the RAC and AA websites Student 3 - Has combined maps and supports the local club!
