Computer Games

We have secured some funding for a study support project and we wish to invite one school from each district to participate in a Gaming Competition.  This would be to provide a group of pupils with a taster session on digital game authoring, where they will work collaboratively using problem solving skills to create a computer game and produce marketing material for their new product.

It would involve the school committing to the following:

·         Each school agrees to one member of staff being released for two days – one day for a training session  (with someone who will be involved in the production of the gaming unit for DIDA) and the other day for a follow up session with pupils – there will be funding for one day supply cover but the school would need to commit to the other day supply costs

·         Involve a group of 3 or 4 students in Key Stage 3. Other groups could be involved but there would need to be a team which can meet with the other schools for the competition

·         Run a club out of school hours for a minimum of 10 weeks

·         Be prepared to feedback at subject leader network meetings on the progress and outcome of the work – through examples of work/digital case studies

·         Develop a pack of resources to support other schools wanting to run game authoring clubs

It is anticipated that this will start in the summer term and must be completed by March 2008.

We would be interested to hear from any school who like to be considered in the first instance.  This would be on a first come first consideration basis.
