Visit to Auschwitz

On March 10th, 1999, I took part in a visit organised by Staffordshire LEA to the concentration and death camp in Auschwitz, Poland. This visit involved around 20 students along with 4 members of the local Hebrew congregation and a number of Staffordshire University lecturers. The visit was to coincide with the Anne Frank exhibition that will be taking place at the Staffordshire Gatehouse Theatre from April 28th. Following this visit I have compiled a pictorial insight that hopefully will go someway to showing the living horror that is Auschwitz and also will help prevent this sort of atrocity from ever occurring again.

Upon arriving at Auschwitz the first thing I noticed was how quiet it was, there were no birds singing or any animal life at all, it was very barren, and along with the barbed wire fences this contrived to make it an extremely uninviting place.
