Awards

Do you know someone in Staffordshire who deserves a PRESSie?

PRESSies are awarded to people who have worked hard to Promote Religious Education in Staffordshire Schools.

 

There are four categories of award:

Pupils
Teachers
Departments/schools
Members of the wider community

To gain an awards you must meet the following criteria:

 Pupils

Pupils can be nominated for an award if they have:

bullet

achieved high standards in external examinations, coursework or extended projects

bullet

significantly exceeded their personal targets

bullet

made a particular contribution to RE in Staffordshire e.g. as a member of the Student Council

bullet

acted on their initiative to maker a positive contribution following on directly from work in RE e.g. a contribution to a charity

It is suggested that schools submit the name of one outstanding student and/or a group of students who have completed a project together.

 Teachers

Teachers can be nominated for an award if they have:

bullet

given outstanding and/or long term service to religious education in Staffordshire

bullet

made a particular contribution to RE in Staffordshire through a successful or sustained initiative

It is suggested that schools submit the name of one teacher or a group of teachers who have worked together on a particular project

 Schools/departments

Schools can nominate themselves or a department for an award if they have:

bullet

evidence of innovative work which enhances the RE curriculum, for example:

creative classroom practice

enrichment activities during or outside school time, including visits

forging links with faith communities

tackling larger projects as a direct result of work done in RE

Members of the wider community

Members of the wider community can be nominated if they have:

bullet

supported the RE curriculum in a school through visits or talks

bullet

helped to develop links between the school and local faith communities or groups

bullet

developed positive approaches to religious education in the broader community, e.g. in nurseries
