Rudyard

Rudyard Lake is situated on the edge of the village of Rudyard, three miles east of Leek.

It is man made with a dam at the village end of the lake

The lake is approx 4km long and 20m wide.

Today the lake is a popular place for leisure activities

including sailing, rowing, fishing, cycling

and for walkers who can get all the way around the lake.

There is a narrow gauge railway that runs down the east side.

What was the lake like in the past? Who was Rudyard Kipling? What was the lake built for?
