Mount Sinai

These photos were taken at Mount Sinai, Egypt

These photos show our descent from Mount Sinai, just after dawn. Our party had set off in darkness at 2.00 a.m. from our base by St. Catherine’s Monastery, not knowing what we had let ourselves in for! I resorted to a camel for part of the way. It was an unforgettable experience to see the sun rise from the top and to descend in the early morning sunlight.

The geological cross section from Mount Sinai to Nuweiba is by courtesy of Professor Gilbert Kelling, from the University of Keele.
