Chains to break the Chains
|
| My photo was taken in Birmingham
These photographs show part of the Jubilee 2000 chain of people around the centre of Birmingham during the G8 summit in May 1998. They are chanting "Break the chains – cancel the debt" to put pressure on Western Governments to remove the burden of debt from Third World Countries. They show that tens of thousands of people (estimated 70,000) in Britain and other parts of Europe are willing to put themselves out to show concern for and solidarity with people in other parts of the world community. Hazel Rendle, from QLS, took this photo. |
